A rich history in trade, especially along the sea routes between east and west has made Malaysia a wonderfully varied country. The Chinese, Indians and each of the 18 ethnic groups that make up the traditional Malay people have all brought with them different languages, religions, gastronomies and traditions. These can all be enjoyed side by side in a show of respect and acceptance which makes Malaysia a truly multicultural society.
